Generating hope

Parallel lecture (P15)

THE WONDER OF SURVIVAL
Prof. Georg FISCHER SJ

Several conquests, deportations, being dispersed, enmity going on for centuries, and systematic obliteration - one people from antiquity has survived all this, whereas their past "victors" have vanished. The deepest and strongest roots for this wonder are to be found in the biblical texts and the experiences contained therein. They solve the riddle of this extraordinary resilience which is unique in the history of mankind. They can also give precious hints for us today. The paper and workshop will show important aspects to overcome such traumata and to come to terms with them.

CREATING HOPE: REMEMBERING BRILLIANT MOMENTS, EXPERIENCING THEM AND ANCHORING THEM AS A RESOURCE
Michael HILLENKAMP

Our ability for self-observation as well as imagination are powerful instruments for coping with demanding life tasks. In a structured "step to step" model, the participants will experience for themselves the procedure as well as the possibilities for themselves, such as integration into their own pastoral or counseling practice.
